Happy Christmas

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Day 29 of the #30DayChristmasCardMakingChallenge and it is a chalkboard technique. I have seen many cards using this technique but not actually got around to seeing how it is done or doing this technique so this is my first attempt. If you haven't seen it before and wonder how it is done, google chalkboard technique and there are plenty of tutorials showing you how to do it - it is really easy btw.

I think I did ok with this technique. I really love the splash of colour with the real red braided linen trim. I wanted to house at the front to stand out from the background so I stampin it in versamark ink and heat embossed it using white embossing powder. To colour in the roof and the windows, I grabbed my white ink refill and placed 1 drop on a clear block. Then using the smallest of my water painters, I grabbed a tiny bit of the ink and started on the roof of the largest house. I kept adding more until I was happy with it. Then I continued on with the rest of images.

I took my sponge, dabbed it into the craft white ink pad and went around the outside of the chalkboard layer. I thought this made it really stand out from the base card. Almost like it had a white layer behind it.

As you can see, I layered each house using dimensionals.

I hope you liked today's card. Give this technique a go. If you have any questions, let me know.

Don't forget my...
