Stampin' Up! Delicate Dahlias

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to my blog.

Today I have the gorgeous Delicate Dahlias (a FREE Sale-A-Bration product) to show you. I am also joining in the GDP (Global Design Project) #GDP303 challenge. The theme is Flower Power.

My first thought was to water colour this image (which would look amazing) in but then I thought of using Vellum - so I did. I do love the Stampin' Up! Vellum. It is nice and thick but not as thick as card stock. So, I stamped the Dahlia using Versamark ink and heat set white emboss powder over the top. I then grabbed my paper snips and fussy cut the flower out. I also grabbed my Scalloped Contours Dies (2nd largest) and die cut Polished Pink and Basic White. With the White one, I trimmed it down to the stitched line and placed it on top of the Polished Pink. 


I raised the Basic White layer using dimensionals. The flower I adhered using a glue dot right underneath the rhinestone. I also raised the sentiment layers with dimensionals and adhered the silver trim with a glue dot.


I have a thing for double bows at the moment. Feel free to have a single bow instead. Now, to colour in the Dahlia, I used Stampin' Blends® in Polished Pink but turned the image over so it was face down and coloured the back as I had heat embossed the flower, I wanted it to stay white. I first went over the whole flower with the light and then with the dark, I coloured where I thought it should go. There is no right or wrong way to do this. I am certainly no expert but I believe you should just have fun.
